I don't see anything on that site about it after that though, so even if it's not a part of bearings I wonder if it shut down and the kids just go to Bearings now? I can't find any current information that says that it still exists, sadly. —[[User:SamWhited|SamWhited]] ([[User talk:SamWhited|talk]])

==History==

In December 2004, three friends held an open meeting to discuss a community wide problem: bicycle repair services at for-profit shops was too expensive and time consuming. We wanted to fix our own bikes with collectively owned tools. When the power went out at that meeting, the 60 of us gathered there huddled together and lit the room with blinky lights so we could continue shouting about our visions for community service, empowerment, and change! Together, with the support of local businesses and artists, we created a nonprofit tax exempt organization dedicated to creating a cooperatively owned bicycle repair shop. Eight months later, with the help of the East Atlanta Kids Club, SouthStar CDC, and Don Bender, Sopo acquired its shop space in East Atlanta. Two years after moving in, Sopo shut down, revamped, reopened, and hired its first paid Executive Director. Since then, we have doubled our shop activity. We are on the verge of developing new and exciting programing that will expand our reach and help to make Atlanta a cleaner, safer, and healthier place for all!

In ~2022 Sopo moved to The Met in Atlanta's West End Neighborhood.

SoPo is named for South of Ponce de Leon Road.

==Services Offered==
*Bike Donations

SoPo is YOUR bicycle shop. We belong to you.

We are a nonprofit community-based bicycle repair shop in the West End. Come by and fix and build bicycles with new and old friends. No experience? No problem. Come and learn. That's what we're here for.

We ask for modest donations in return for use of tools, materials, and parts. No one is turned away for lack of money. Work-trade is a-okay!

We are a nonprofit community-based bicycle repair shop in Reynoldstown. Come by and fix and build bicycles with new and old friends. No experience? No problem. Come and learn. That's what we're here for.
We ask for modest donations in return for use of tools, materials, and parts. No one is turned away for lack of $$. Work-trade is a-okay!
