Together, with the support of local businesses and artists, we created a nonprofit tax exempt organization dedicated to creating cooperatively owned bicycle repair shop. Eight months later, with the help of the East Atlanta Kids Club, SouthStar CDC, and Don Bender, Sopo acquired its shop space in East Atlanta. Two years after moving in, Sopo shut down, revamped, reopened, and hired its first paid Executive Director. Since then, we have doubled our shop activity.
