Truing stands will be common in any bike shop, one of the more common ones is the TS-2 by Park Tool, they are durable.
Reasons to use a truing stand
- Wheel truing
- Wheel cleaning
- Lubing spoke nipples.
- Despoking wheels.
Important things to remember
- Make sure the axle gets into the slots properly and that the wheel gets into the right place. Check once you get it in that the stand is pressing up against the locknuts and that the axle is down in the slots.
- Do not overtighten. Just turn the knob until it holds the wheel in place, not until you can't turn it anymore.
