To over simplify greases, they are designed for different loads and temperatures. Anything made for automotive applications is usually more than adequate for the low loads and temperatures of bicycles.
Bicycle Specific Grease
There are greases being labeled as bicycle specific:
- Pedro's Syn Grease Bicycle Grease
- Park Tool PolyLube 1000
- Finish Line Teflon Grease
- Phil Wood Grease
NOTE: Sheldon Brown recommends you use heat resistant grease for coaster brake hubs.
Environmentally Friendly Grease
- Bioblend EP2 Biogrease
