-The Lincoln Bike Kitchen began as a one-time event for the 10/10/10 Work Party promoted by the environmental organization 350.org.  The resources and enthusiasm needed to sustain a bike co-op in Lincoln came from that event.  Many tools were donated and one of the Work Party organizers loaned us a good size house to operate out of.  The ample space has allowed us to grow rapidly into a fully functional do-it-yourself shop and engage in bicycle advocacy throughout the community.  We continue to strengthen our bonds with the environmental movement that helped precipitate the Bike Kitchen.  Volunteers can earn bikes by working in our organic garden and the Bike Kitchen has staged rides in conjunction with local protests against the Transcanada Keystone XL pipeline.
