The Community Bicycle Center was founded in 2001. It briefly operated out of a storage facility, and later found space in the Northern York County branch of the YMCA. That facility closed in June 2005, and so the CBC formally incorporated as a nonprofit, and in 2006 purchased its current facility on 6 acres. Due to the growth of new programs, including non-bike-related programs, the organization changed its name to Apex Youth Connection in October 2019.[1]
Services Offered
Apex Bike Factory (ABF) is the core of our Job Readiness Program. As a full-service bike shop run by middle and high school students, it empowers and prepares our youth in two ways:
- Immersive work experiences to practice the skills and mindsets for their future careers.
- Personalized career path development and exploration.
